There are some recommended steps to follow, as follows:

At first, you should heat up the electric burner by connecting it to the electrical outlet, then wait for about a minute.

Now put the incense in the incense burner, or preferably on aluminum foil, so that the incense burner stays clean.

Wait about two minutes until the smoke starts to rise, and now you need to remove the incense burner from the electricity, then stir with the spoon every minute or so so that it does not burn .

And you can reconnect the incense burner for just a minute or two to electricity if the smell stops and you still need it.
