Sudan is one of the world's leading producers of gum arabic, producing almost 90 per cent of the world's gum production. Gum is used in the manufacture of many products such as cosmetics, medicines, textiles, industrial foods, soft drinks and paints. It is also used in the treatment of several chronic and intractable diseases. In this article, we will mention the types of gum, how it is used, how it is prepared and its benefits.
The Sudanese arabic gum is prepared through wounding the branches of the hemp trees, using special sharp tools. The gum comes out through the previously opened holes. Its color is white, brown or orange, then it freezes to become sticky with a viscous texture. Finally, gum turns into small glass-like pieces. The original gum is free of any taste or smell (generally). It is soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol but can interact with certain chemicals in an easy way.
Ingredients: 50 grams of Sudanese gum with a glass of warm water.
Preparation: Grind four teaspoons of Sudanese gum twice a day. Then mix two teaspoons of ground gum in a glass of water and leave for 2-3 hours until it is completely dissolved. Finally, take a cup of the mixture (Not necessarily on an empty stomach) and another cup at night before bedtime.
